The Underground Archaeological Space (S.A.S.S.): Trento Beneath Your Feet
The first stop is not along the street, but right underneath it. In Piazza Cesare Battisti, all it takes is a short flight of stairs to suddenly find yourself travelling back two thousand years, walking among the remains of Roman Tridentum.
The Underground Archaeological Space has a quiet, atmospheric charm. Here, you can walk along an ancient stone-paved decumanus, passing the foundations of Roman houses, the remains of shops, remarkably well-preserved sewers and even one of the gateways to the ancient city.

Alongside its rich collections of tapestries and wooden sculptures, the museum also offers guided access, by reservation, to the Civic Tower, the ancient keep that rises 45 metres above the square.
Climbing its internal staircase means travelling through centuries of the city’s history, passing the old prison cells before reaching a unique elevated viewpoint over Trento’s rooftops and the mountains surrounding the city.
Palazzo Roccabruna: Where History Meets Wine
In the heart of Trento’s historic centre, Palazzo Roccabruna is a Renaissance residence worth visiting not only for its frescoed ceilings and the understated elegance of its rooms. It is also home to the Provincial Wine House of Trentino and an important historical collection featuring hundreds of local wine labels dating from the 1940s to the present day.
It is not a traditional museum in the strictest sense, but rather a living place where the history of the region intertwines with its winemaking heritage.
