\nThe “shooting stars” associated with St. Lawrence\u2019s Night are actually the Perseids, one of the best-known and most spectacular meteor showers of the year. Active from July through August, they usually reach their peak around the middle of the month.
\nSo why not turn the evening of August 10 into a little adventure? Just a short drive from Trento, you’ll find several places where escaping the city’s lights is enough to enjoy a much darker\u2014and far more impressive\u2014night sky.<\/p>\n

Monte Bondone: Stargazing Just Minutes from Trento<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you’d like to spend an evening under the stars without planning a full hiking trip, Monte Bondone is probably one of the easiest options.
\nThe Viote area offers wide open meadows, panoramic viewpoints, and plenty of space to admire the surrounding mountains and valley. During the day it’s a favorite destination for hiking and enjoying the fresh mountain air, while after sunset it takes on an entirely different atmosphere.
\nIts greatest advantage is its location: close enough to Trento for an easy return, yet far enough away to escape much of the city’s light pollution. On St. Lawrence’s Night, you can arrive before sunset, enjoy a walk, stop for dinner or a picnic, and then simply wait until darkness settles in.
