There are times of the year when Trentino reveals itself best through its village squares—filled with long outdoor tables, live music, shared toasts, and aromas drifting from local kitchens.
Between late spring and early summer, the area around Trento comes alive with events that blend local culture, flavors, and a strong sense of community. These are perfect occasions to head out without a plan and find yourself immersed in authentic atmospheres—often the most memorable ones.
Here are some festivals and fairs worth a detour.
Just a few minutes from Trento, Zambana celebrates one of its signature products until May 10 with a festival that is much more than a simple village fair.
The White Asparagus Festival of Zambana, held between April and early May, combines tastings, field visits, show cooking, local markets, and festive community moments.
Here, asparagus takes center stage in dishes like risotto, barley-based recipes, and traditional specialties. And that’s the beauty of it—you can arrive for lunch, stop for a tasting, stroll among the stalls, and suddenly find yourself, almost without noticing, in the middle of a true community celebration.
For a day trip, it’s one of those experiences that feels genuinely authentic.
From June 5 to 21, Fiori Erbe Sapori returns between Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra, one of the most charming early summer events.
Here, the region tells its story through wild herbs, flowers, workshops, themed dinners, botanical walks, and tastings spread across the area.
It’s a festival with a delicate, deeply Trentino character—it doesn’t put the territory on display, it simply lets it speak.
You can join a herbal excursion, enjoy a themed dinner, or create your own day blending nature and gastronomy. It’s the kind of event that makes you want to slow down.
If you like the idea of combining landscapes and flavors, Degustando l’Oltresommo is an event to mark on your calendar: July 12, 2026.
Set in Alpe Cimbra, this experience is a food and wine walk along the “Path of Water,” passing through villages, farmsteads, mills, and tasting stops along the way.
As you walk, you’ll encounter stories, traditions, local bites, music, and the people who bring this territory to life—and that’s what makes it truly special.
Then there are the lesser-known events—often the most authentic ones. Small village fairs, usually organized by local associations and volunteers, pop up everywhere during this season among hills, vineyards, and hamlets around Trento.
These are evenings with long shared tables under tents, local wine in glasses, steaming polenta, live bands, and homemade desserts.
You might stumble upon one by chance—and those are often the ones that stay with you the most.
A tip? Ask your hotel what’s happening during your stay. The best events are often the ones you weren’t looking for.
Talking about Trentino’s village fairs without mentioning wine would be impossible. Many of these events are also an opportunity to taste local labels—from Teroldego Rotaliano to the wines of Val di Cembra—often presented directly by the people who produce them.
Taking part in these festivals is a different way to experience the region. In the morning, you might enjoy a walk through the city center, in the afternoon a village celebration, and in the evening return with that wonderful feeling of having discovered something truly authentic.
